Past: The Landscape In Colour
Saturday 20 November 2021
Lewes, Sussex
This workshop has now passed.

Explore colour and mark-making for landscapes, in this two-hour workshop led by artist and illustrator Isabella Mitchell.

Through hands-on experimentation with different painting and drawing media, you will explore the use of colour and mark-making within landscape art. You will learn practical tips through demonstrations, discussions on colour theory, plus key examples of work by a variety of landscape artists. By the end of the session, you will have created a finished artwork, and gained new skills and ideas to continue exploring at home.

All levels and abilities welcome. 12+ only. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

In this workshop, you will:
  • Be introduced to different approaches to landscapes by artists through time, and briefly touch on colour theory.
  • Watch demonstrations on using different artistic mediums, including gouache paint and water-soluble pencils, with tips and techniques for each.
  • Have the opportunity to experiment and try out different media and colour combinations, to help you decide on a final composition and colour palette.
  • Create a final piece on A4 heavy-weight paper or A6 Canvas board to take home and frame.
