Bringing The Outside In - Mural at St George’s Hospital
In July 2021 Arts St George's launched St George's Arts Week, an annual celebration of arts and creativity for our hospital community.
Themed around nature and the benefits of spending time outside, I was invited to design and create this mural, inspired by the beautiful outdoor spaces at St George's Hospital.
Using photographs and sketches of leaves, stems and petals taken from the the gardens nearby, I identified abstract shapes and translated these into the composition, originally made from cutout paper shapes.
The finished design indends to provoke a calm sense of motion or rhythm, illustrated using fun and uplifting colours.
This mural has been commissioned by Arts St George’s, part of St George’s Hospital Charity, in partnership with St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Find it at 1st Floor Lanesborough Wing, St George's Hospital, SW17 0QT
