Make a ‘galactic’ mobile - Workshop at ALSO Festival 2024

In this workshop, you will make your very own ‘galactic’ mobile, inspired by the work of Alexander Calder, an artist celebrated for his innovative mobiles and kinetic sculptures.
Drawing on the theme of ‘heavenly bodies’ and informed by the research of astrophysicists, you will learn how to design, decorate and build a cascading mobile.
During this beginner-friendly workshop, you will have the opportunity to apply artistic techniques inspired by scientific methods used to identify old and young Galaxies. Through the assembly of your mobile, you will experiment with and learn how to achieve balance and suspension in the air.
Whether you seek to channel cosmic wonders, celestial revelry, or even extraterrestrial mysteries, together we will bring the wonders of the universe to ALSO festival. Over the course of 1.5 hours, we will fill our tent with a gallery of gravity-defying galaxies. By the end of the evening, you will have your own kinetic creation and newfound skills to take home with you.
